Qin Juying was feeding mulberry leaves to silkworm babies at Jinyu Professional Farmers’ Cooperative in Hongtuxi Village, Wuxi Town, Luxi County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on July 5.

Qin Juying is a native farmer. She worked as a financial accountant after graduating from Jishou University. In the spring of 2021, she quit her job with a salary of over ten thousand yuan per month and started her own business in her hometown Hongtuxi Village.

After multiple on-the-spot investigations, she was interested in the comprehensive project of mulberry, silkworms, and tea, and established the Jinyu Professional Farmers’ Cooperative. With the support and assistance of the village government, she transferred 300 mu (20 hectares) of land in Hongtuxi Village to develop mulberry leaf tea and silkworm breeding. Currently, more than 3 million yuan has been invested.

“I hope to do something for my hometown.” Through nearly three years of industrial development, the mulberry, silkworm, and tea industry bases have begun to take shape, which has also strengthened Qin Juying’s determination and confidence in the industrial development.

Over 1,000 kilograms of mulberry leaf tea and over 3,000 kilograms of silkworm cocoons can be produced in the cooperative annually, with an average annual output value of over 1000,000 yuan. It has provided 6,000 job opportunities for local women, with the pay of 600,000 yuan.
